A Treasure Valley Christmas: No Bosses, Buses or Banking, But Plenty of Movies and Skiing

Posted By on Sun, Dec 23, 2012 at 10:06 AM

Goodness knows retailers will be open Monday. Everything else will be hit-or-miss.

Area malls are again expected to be a bit of a zoo on Christmas Eve, catering to procrastinators and shop-till-they-drop deal seekers. The Boise Towne Square doors are expected to close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve. Most supermarkets will also be open Monday, but will have limited hours on Christmas Day.

All state liquor stores will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. but will be closed on Tuesday. Bank are expected to have shortened hours on Monday and will be closed Tuesday. The U.S. Post Office will be open for its regular hours on Christmas Eve but will not deliver mail on Tuesday, with the exception of Express Mail.

Most federal, state, county and city government offices will close early on Monday and will be closed Tuesday.

ValleyRide city buses will provide limited service Monday and will not run Tuesday.

But perhaps the busiest businesses on Christmas Day will be the region's movie theaters, which traditionally do brisk business, and Bogus Basin will be open as well.
