Boise City Council to Consider Rezone of 60 City Parks and Recreation Sites

When Boise City Council members meet Tuesday, Jan. 8, they'll be asked to consider moving forward a proposal recommended by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department, which would rezone city parks parcels to a single zoning classification.

According to documents attached to the Jan. 8 meeting agenda, the proposal would rezone a total of 198 parcels, lots and rights of way totaling approximately 477 acres in 60 park sites.

The property would be rezoned as A-1 or "open land" districts, which would comply with the Boise City Comprehensive Plan and Blueprint Boise.

"Zoning is Boise’s strongest land-use tool, and the A-1 and A-2 zones are the most restrictive zones in the code," according to the ordinance.

The rezone would allow for more consistent management of the city's parks system, according to the ordinance.
