Sun Valley Assistant Police Chief Admits to DUI, Given No Jail Time, $650 Fine

The assistant police chief of Sun Valley, charged with drunken driving after backing into a parked vehicle three times, failing three field sobriety tests and registering a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit, received a withheld judgment on Tuesday, meaning his conviction could be removed from his criminal record if he follows the terms of probation.

The case against Michael Crawford took a turn in late November, when a judge ruled that police botched standard operating procedures in administering the blood alcohol test.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that Crawford admitted to the DUI, but was given no jail time, a $650 fine, a 120-day suspension of his license and 40 hours of community service.
