Boise Police Seize Multiple Firearms in Grand Theft Arrest

Posted By on Wed, Feb 13, 2013 at 12:50 PM

A Boise man is behind bars charged with grand theft and burglary after Boise Police searched his home to discover a cache of firearms, including semi-automatic weapons.

Law enforcement say the suspect would steal items from local retailers and then return them in exchange for gift cards. The gift cards were then used, in turn, to purchase multiple firearms over the last several years, according to police.

“It takes cooperation between retailers and law enforcement to make a real impact on this kind of crime, saving consumers money in the long run," said Curt Crum, Boise Police retail crimes supervisor.

Daniel Hermosillo, 34, was locked up Tuesday afternoon at the Ada County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.

Daniel Hermosillo, 34, is charged with grand theft and burglary.
