Payette County Reports Rash of Dog Shootings

Posted By on Mon, Mar 4, 2013 at 9:21 AM

Law enforcement in Payette County says dog shootings "are becoming a far too familiar problem," according to the Argus Observer.

The Observer reports that in February, there were five dog shootings in Payette County, resulting in two deaths.

"Picking up a gun to shoot a dog simply because it's there is not justifiable," Lyn Vernazza, who operates the Payette Partners Rescue Ranch, told the Observer. "Especially since all these shootings seem to be with a .22, which isn't going to kill it, but maim it and make if suffer."

Law enforcement said at least one of the shootings "was clearly a malicious act," according to the Observer, in which the dog was shot in front of the owner's house.
