Public's Help Needed In Investigation of Star Sheep Shootings

Posted By on Sat, Mar 9, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Ada County Sheriff's deputies and Star Police are asking for the public's help in their investigation into the shooting deaths of three animals in a Star pasture this week.

Ranchers said the first incident occurred on the 7600 block of North Star Road March 5, when one sheep had been shot in the head at close range. The owner of the sheep found two more sheep shot and killed in the same area March 7.

The sheep were being raised by area students as part of a 4-H project.

Investigators say evidence indicates that more than one person was responsible for the shootings.

A felony charge can be lodged against anyone who enters someone's property and destroys livestock.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information to call Det. Marc Bowman at 208-577-3704.
