A former coordinator of the Canyon County Meals on Wheels program and the Caldwell Senior Center admitted to stealing from both organizations Monday.

In January, Citydesk reported that 55-year-old Paige McMichael of Caldwell was charged with using more than $12,000 in Caldwell Senior Center funds and more than $2,000 in Meals On Wheels funds for personal purchases at Costco, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

"She went and got a Costco card, and she was charging all kinds of stuff to this card,” Bob Sobba, president of Canyon County Meals on Wheels, told the Idaho Press-Tribune. “We have no reason to have a Costco card. Our office is about 10 or 12 square feet, we have a computer in there and a part-time person who sets up the meals, so we just trusted her. It’s been 40 years since we’ve been there, and we’ve always had reliable people.”

McMichael paid $7,200 in restitution before she left a Canyon County courtroom on Monday.

McMichael will have to return to court Monday, June 3, when she'll be sentenced for her guilty plea to two counts of grand theft. Prosecutors are expected to recommend house arrest, probation and community service instead of prison time, according to the Press-Tribune.
