Times-News: Souvenir From Idaho Prom? A Shot Glass

A Jerome mother was less than happy when she woke Sunday, April 14, to find that her daughter had come home from her prom at Jerome High School with a souvenir—a shot glass.

This morning's Twin Falls Times-News reports that the shot glasses read, "Sweet Dreams: Prom 2013."

The Jerome School District was quick to divert responsibility, telling the Times-News that "it was a school group in charge of prom that ordered the shot glasses and not the school itself."

"I think maybe the students were a little sneaky," Jerome School Board member Don Mitchell told the Times-News. "Kids will be kids."

But Mitchell said it wouldn't happen again, adding that students "lost the district's trust."

As phone messages began piling up Monday, April 15, Jerome School Superintendent Dale Layne decided to send a newsletter to district staff saying that the matter would be investigated and that the school board would discuss the matter at its Tuesday, April 23, meeting.
