Boise hockey fans, and especially downtown restaurants and bars, cheered Tuesday night as the Idaho Steelheads clinched the ECHL Western Conference semifinals, meaning the Steelies advanced to yet another playoff run beginning Friday night.

The Steelheads beat the Ontario Rein, 5-3, to take the semifinal series 4 games to 2.

Idaho will face off with Stockton Thunder in a best-of-seven Western Conference final that begins with the Steelheads' home-ice advantage: games one and two, both at CenturyLink Arena will be played Friday, May 3, and Sunday, May 5.

In five regular season matches, Stockton beat Idaho three times, but Idaho has eliminated Stockton in two previous playoff face-offs.

If this year's Conference Final extends to six and/or seven games, game six will be held in Boise Monday, May 13, and game six will be played Tuesday, May 14.
