Boise Elementary School Playground Set Afire

Posted By on Sun, May 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM

The fact that a fire was set near a Boise school in the middle of the day Saturday was brazen enough, but the target was particularly heartless: a playground set.

Ada County Sheriff's deputies are hoping anyone with information will come forward and help point them to the person or persons who set the fire at a Shadow Hills Elementary playground on West Sloan Road in northwest Ada County.

The fire was spottled by a school employee at approximately 2:30 p.m. on May 4. By the time Boise firefighters put out the flames, the playground's plastic slides had melted, the metal play set had been scorched and several square feet of wood chips had burned beneath the playground set.

Anyone with information is urged to call Ada County Sheriff's dispatch at 377-6790.
