AP: Quakes Shake Southeast Idaho

Posted By on Mon, May 6, 2013 at 9:31 AM

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a series of small earthquakes rumbled trough southeast Idaho and Yellowstone National Park between March 3 and March 5.

The Associated Press reports that temblors of 4.2 and 3.6 magnitude were recorded the evening of March 5 in the Lava Hot Springs area, triggering a number of phone calls from concerned residents but no reported damage. Two more smaller quakes were recorded in northwest Yellowstone, one May 3 registering a magnitude of 2.9 and another May 5 registering 2.7.

The USGS said the quakes were considered "mild and not strong enough to cause severe damage."
