All A-Twitter: Ketchum Couple Sues Resort Over @SunValley Twitter Handle

A Ketchum couple has launched a lawsuit against Twitter and the Sun Valley resort, requesting a court order to halt the resort's usage of @SunValley.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that Leonard Barshack and wife Erin Smith claim that they registered for, and obtained the @Sun Valley handle sometime before April 3, 2010, and have periodically tweeted on a variety topics including the skiing, the weather and pig roasts.

But in October 2012, officials with the Sun Valley Resort contacted Twitter saying they wanted to start using @Sun Valley, claiming that Barshack had been using the resort's trademarked logo in his tweets. Twitter notified Barshack that he was in violation of Twitter's rules and that @SunValley was being transferred to the resort.

But in their complaint, Barshack and Smith say that they never impersonated the resort in their tweets, but admitted to using an image of a sun, but not the resort's logo.

Barshack and Smith are asking for the Twitter handle back and that the resort and Twitter pay their attorney fees.
