UPDATE: Boise Fire Controls Fast-Moving Blaze Along Interstate

UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.

Boise Fire controlled a blaze north of Interstate-84, near the Blacks Creek exit, Friday afternoon after the fire scorched 20-25 acres. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from jumping Blacks Creek Road.

The cause of the fire is unknown.


Interstate-84 is closed in both directions near the Blacks Creek exit due to a fast moving brush fire.

Boise Fire was to the blaze which quickly spread to dried brush along the interstate. In a matter of minutes, the fire spread to approximately ten acres.

Boise Fire has two engines, two brush rigs and a water tender on scene. The Bureau of Land Management has sent in addition four engines a dozen brush rigs and another water tender. The Meridian Fire Department is assisting with a brush rig.

Due to the large emergency response, motorists are being advised to avoid I-84 near Blacks Creek until further notice.
