Tribune: BBC, History Channel Filming Idaho Hell on Wheels ... Or Is it Wheels in Hells Canyon?

Film crews from the History Channel and the BBC Worldwide Productions are getting a taste of Idaho's hell on earth by spending the better part of this week in Hells Canyon. In a unique demonstration for the popular Top Gear television program, producers said they chose Hells Canyon because they wanted to test three different vehicles on three different surfaces—dirt, pavement and water.

This morning's Lewiston Tribune reports that the crews are using a Subaru WRX STI RallyCross, an Aston Martin and a jet boat. Quite simply, they want to chronicle the top speed of each.

The History Channel said it didn't want to send out any publicity on the shoot because they didn't want to create a crowd of spectators. Filming will continue for three or four days, according to the Tribune and the episode is expected to air on the History Channel this fall.
