The lightning-caused Ridge Fire, which has burned more than 5,157 acres over the past week, is now 30 percent contained.

Fire managers say they now have more than 400 personnel on the scene, including 11 20-person Hotshot crews with eight helicopters giving support.

The fire continues to wreak havoc on subalpine fir, lodgepole pine and Douglas fir trees, approximately 14 miles northeast of Lowman.

Crews are expected to spend Saturday mopping up the southern portion of the fire perimeter while Hotshots construct direct fire lines in an effort to suppress single tree flare-ups to the north. Saturday's forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms with the potential for strong, gusty winds.
