279 personnel, including five 20-person Hotshot crews, remain on the scene of the lightning-caused Ridge Fire which has now burned 5,270 acres and is 42 percent contained. The blaze continues to be fueled by subalpine fir trees with intermixed lodgepole pine and Douglas fir.

Fire managers say that firefighters and aviation resources will begin their demobilization process as they reach the end of a 14-day tour of duty. The fire will continue to be staffed with the Hotshot Crew 5 out of the Bear Valley Guard Station beginning today.

The fire area is expected to remain under a Red Flag warning over the next 24 hours, as today's forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms and strong gusty winds.
