The head of the Idaho Department of Labor is stepping away from the top post this fall.

Roger Madsen, 65, was first appointed to the position in 1995 by then-Idaho Gov. Phil Batt and says he intends to retire on Friday, Nov. 15. The Idaho Department of Labor posted the opening for Madsen's job on its website Aug. 9.

Madsen has indicated that he wants to travel with his wife to Morocco as part of a humanitarian mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
