A Boise firefighter was injured the afternoon of Aug. 18 after he was shocked by downed power lines while battling a three-alarm fire in Garden City. Additionally, three other people, including a resident of the structure that burned, were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of N. 43rd Street after a large, two story metal and wood structure was consumed by flames. The building was a former storage facility converted to include two apartments—at least one of them occupied at the time of the blaze.

Firefighters said they heard several small explosions coming from inside the building, believed to be small arms ammunition.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
