Another chapter in the saga of Hannah Anderson, which climaxed in Idaho's backcountry with the shooting death of Anderson's abductor, will come to a close today when the 16-year-old's mother and younger brother will be mourned in a public memorial service.

Both the mother and son were killed by James DiMaggio, who allegedly lured them to his San Diego area home, set fire to the house to cover the crime and kidnapped Anderson. He took the teenager north, finally ending up outside of Cascade, Idaho. Following up on a crucial tip from horseback riders, law enforcement rescued Anderson and shot DiMaggio.

The Guardian Angel Roman Catholic Church, in Santee, Calif., is planning for thousands to attend today's memorial service for 44-year-old Christina Anderson and her 8-year-old son, Ethan. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated and a eulogy will be included.

“I want to be a firefighter for San Diego,” Hannnah Anderson told NBC's Today Show Aug. 22. “This was a hard time, and there’s going to be harder times in life. But if I could get through this I’m sure I can get through a lot more.”
