Idaho AG: Six Year Probe Into Drug Pricing Abuses Nets $28.3 Million

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced this morning that his office had wrapped six years of litigation involving false price reporting by major pharmaceutical companies. In all, Wasden said his office recovered more than $28.3 million from 22 prescription drug manufacturers.

Wasden said the false reporting had bilked Idaho Medicaid millions of dollars prior to the probe.

"In negotiating these settlements, we tried to look forward as well as backward," said Wasden. "The state will receive pricing data from these companies going forward. That element of the settlements will help protect the taxpayers from future pricing abuses."

In particular, Wasden praised his Deputy Attorney General Jane Hochberg for leading the six-year litigation effort. Wasden said the work involved thousands of hours of work and more than 1,250,000 pages of documents.
