The Idaho Press-Tribune reports this morning that both unemployment figures and the number of foreclosure notices filed have declined in Canyon County, while average price of a home sold in the county went up.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 6,597 Canyon County residents were considered unemployed in July 2013—7.4 percent of the total population. Compare that to 7,562 in July 2012, when unemployment was pegged at 8.7 percent.

According to the most recent data, median income in the county is pegged at $43,839, while the median home sale price January through June 2013 was $118,900, compared to $88,474 in 2012 and $79,500 in 2011.

The most drastic change was seen with foreclosure notices filed January through June 2013—just 389 notices were filed during the period, compared with 910 for the same five-month term in 2012 and 972 in 2011.

Meanwhile, distressed resale properties on the market went from 56.6 percent of total resale inventory in June 2012 to 34.4 percent in June 2013.
