Journal: Idaho’s Attorney General Says He’ll Run Again in 2014

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden still enjoys the job and plans to run again next year, according to the Idaho State Journal

“Every day is an interesting ride. And we are going to keep going,” Wasden told the Journal.

Wasden was first elected Idaho’s attorney general in 2002, then again in 2006 and 2010. He told the Journal about his plans and some of the responsibilities his office carries beyond criminal prosecutions and investigations.

He said that out of the 118 lawyers in his office, only two handle criminal prosecution. The others work on consumer protection issues and serve as the state’s representative in criminal appeals. Anytime a case moves to the state appellate level, the Idaho Attorney General’s Office takes over.

The office’s Consumer Protection Division has garnered media attention for its years of litigation against large pharmaceutical companies. According to the Journal, Wasden’s office recovered about $28 million for Idaho’s Medicaid program.
