Feds down-sized the number of marijuana plants seized last week in two raids that resulted in the arrest of five people, including four Mexican nationals. After local officials initially reported that approximately 40,000 pot plants had been discovered, U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson and an official release from the U.S. Department of Justice said only about 5,585 had been seized.

The initial bust occurred last week at a site near Rabbit Creek on public land. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement also discovered indications of a secondary growing site.

Court filings made Sept. 19 at Boise's U.S. District Court alleged that the suspects manufactured, distributed or possessed illicit drugs with the intent to distribute. Three of the defendants also face weapons charges. Preliminary hearings are set for Friday, Sept. 27.
