Series of Add the Words Town Halls Set for Southern, Eastern Idaho

In an effort to push more of Idaho municipalities to "Add the Words," advocates are hosting a series of town hall meetings in southern and eastern Idaho, looking for extensions of anti-discrimination legislation based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The first of the town hall meetings is set for this evening at 6 p.m. at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.

The next four are on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Idaho Falls Public Library, Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Pocatello's Marshall Public Library, Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Meridian City Hall, and Wednesday, Oct. 23, at College of Idaho in Caldwell.

According to Add the Words organizers, the meetings' goal is three-fold: "The groups involved want to educate the audience on the history of the Idaho Human Rights Act, the need for the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity, and to give community members the tools to engage and influence their legislators to amend the Idaho Human Rights Act."

The meetings will be facilitated by the ACLU of Idaho, Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Add the Words.
