Man Found Dead on State Street, Apparent Victim of Hit and Run

The Ada County Coroner identified the victim of a Thursday morning hit and run as 53-year-old Victor Haskell of Garden City. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.


Thursday morning's commute on State Street had a particularly somber vibe as motorists spotted a man lying on a sidewalk on State near North 30th Street.

Boise Police later determined that the unidentified male was the apparent victim of a hit and run. Evidence gathered by officer indicated that the man was riding his bike on the north side of State Street near North 30th Street when he was hit by a vehicle. The accident likely occurred in the early, pre-sunrise, hours of Thursday morning.

A woman passing by called 911 to tell dispatchers about the man. The first arriving officers found that the mean was already dead.
