Nampa's Skyview High One of Six Schools to Introduce Wireless Panic Buttons

Skyview High School in Nampa is one of only six schools nationwide that have chosen to add a "panic button" system to their security measures.

The system, developed by Virginia-based Ekahau, requires teachers to wear an electronic safety badge. In the event of a medical or safety emergency, pulling down on the badge mades the teacher's location known to first responders and other badge holders.

In addition to Skyview, five other schools—two in Indiana, and one each in California, Virginia and Washington—have introduced the wireless panic buttons.

Developers say the technology minimizes emergency response times by avoiding map look-ups or phone calls and allows responders to pinpoint the exact location of the incident.
