UPDATE: October 28, 2013 4 p.m.

A 15-year-old boy was placed into juvenile detention and charged with felony aggravated assault, after Boise Police said he reportedly pointed a weapon at a young girl Monday morning as she was walking to a bus stop.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:28 a.m. by the mother of the girl who told officers what had happened.

The little girl says she was walking to the bus stop in the neighborhood southeast of N. Cloverdale Rd and W. Ustick Rd when a car with four teens pulled alongside her. The girl said one boy pointed what she said appeared to be a black handgun toward her. The girl told officers she was scared and crouched down until the car drove away. She then ran to the bus stop, and when she got to school, immediately called her mom who called Boise Police.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. the vehicle was spotted traveling south on Milwaukee Street between W. Northview St. and W. Fairview Ave. Because officers had evidence the occupants of the suspect vehicle were armed and potentially dangerous, officers conducted a high risk "felony" traffic stop. The suspect vehicle stopped in a business parking lot on the northeast corner of Fairview and Milwaukee.

Four teens who were inside the car, three boys and one girl, all 15 years old were taken into custody for questioning.

A black gun that turned out to be a BB gun was found inside the suspect vehicle.

One boy remains in custody.

Police said they also found evidence that the teens committed a burglary (shoplifting) at a Boise retailer. Felony burglary charges were pending against at least two of the teens.

ORIGINAL POST: October 28, 2013 10 a.m.

Four juveniles were taken into custody by Boise Police this morning after a 10-year-old reported that someone in a passing car had pointed a gun at her while she was walking to school. The young girl provided officers with a good description of the vehicle, leading law enforcement to the suspects.

Boise Police said they were able to locate the vehicle in a parking lot on the northeast corner of Fairview and Milwaukee.

Meanwhile, an officer responding to the incident collided with two vehicles on Milwaukee and King streets, just north of Fairview. The officer and a civilian passenger who was in the patrol car were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Police said it did not appear the occupants of the other vehicles were injured. An investigation into the crash continues.
