Founders of Kelly's Whitewater Park Pledge $250K to Cascade Aquatic Center

In June, Boise Weekly sat down with Mark and Kristina Pickard at Cascade's Roxy Movie Theater.

"We're from Miami Beach; we spend about two to three months a year here," said Mark.

But the Pickards have endeared themselves in the Valley County community by introducing one new landmark and saving another. They built Kelly's Whitewater Park in 2010 in memory of Kristina's late sister, Kelly. More recently, they helped revitalize the Roxy with new digital equipment, seating and sound.

And now the Pickards have pledge $250,000 to spur construction of the $2.2 million Cascade Aquatic and Fitness Complex. The McCall Star-News reports that the Pickards' donation comes with the condition that the Southern Valley County Recreation District secure the rest of the money needed for the project, which would be located across from Kelly's Whitewater Park.

The $250,000 would be earmarked for the center's exercise hydrotherapy pool.
