Tribune: ATK Acquires Bushnell for $985M

In August, the City Club of Boise heard Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little and David Lehrman, managing partner of GSA Results, tout the importance of the firearms industry to the Gem State economy.

"What Silicon Valley is to California, what banking is to New York, what automotives are to Michigan, I would like to think that Idaho could become the world leader in arms and ammunition manufacturing," said Lehman.

And on November 4, ATK, one of Central Idaho's largest employers, announced that its cache had just gotten significantly bigger with its acquisition of Bushnell Group Holdings for $985 million. Bushnell manufactures rifle scopes and binoculars under the names of Primos, Bolle, Hoppe's, Uncle Mike's, Butler Creek and Serengeti.

This morning's Lewiston Tribune reports that ATK's ammunition manufacturing division employs approximately 1,200 workers at its Lewiston facility.
