Star-News: Newly Elected Cascade Official Will Resign After Being Sworn In

Only two weeks after being elected to the Cascade City Council, a council member-elect says he's resigning.

This morning's McCall Star-News reports that Troy Huckaby, who was elected to office Nov. 5, says he's moving outside his city's limits by the end of the year. The reason, he said, was because he's house-sitting for a friend who is leaving the country for a church mission. State law requires municipal officials to be city residents.

Huckaby secured a seat on the Cascade City Council Nov. 5 when he and Kathy Hull were declared victors of two open seats in a three person race.

Huckaby says he will wait to be sworn in at the beginning of January and then formally resign from office, leaving it to the council to appoint his replacement.

Cascade officials say they'll seek interested applicants for an individual who would serve a two-year term before facing election for a full four-year term in 2015.
