Rosauer's Parent Firm: Electronic Card Readers Back Online

Officials with URM Stores—the parent company of Rosauers, Family Foods, Harvest Foods, Super 1 Foods and Yoke's grocery stores—say they're pretty sure their credit and debit card nightmares are over. In a statement from the Spokane-based wholesaler, URM CEO assured customers that "Cards are safe to use. We are extremely grateful to our customers for their patience and understanding."

In November, instances of credit and debit card fraud at URM stores were called a "plague" as URM CEO Ray Sprinkle said the problem was a "criminal cyber attack" against the chain's payment system.

URM began asking customers to use cash or check after the company discovered a breach in its computer systems. Meanwhile, the chain says it is working with a debit card security firm and credit card companies to identify compromised card information. The company is still working with the U.S. Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies to find the thieves responsible for the attack.

URM is still operating a call center dedicated to fielding questions about reports of fraud. The center can be reached at 1-877-237-7408.
