Jimmy Farris Announces Bid for Idaho Legislature

Posted By on Thu, Dec 5, 2013 at 12:55 PM

Democrat Jimmy Farris, who pulled in 31 percent of votes in his 2012 challenge to GOP Idaho Congressman Raul Labrador, now has his political sights set on the Idaho Legislature. Farris announced today that he'll be running for Idaho House Seat 16A in 2014.

But if Farris is successful, he would unseat a sitting Democrat: incumbent Rep. Grant Burgoyne, who was first elected to the Idaho House in 2008.

“This district has had incredible representation over the years, and it’s important that we maintain that strong leadership with a representative who will continue to focus on the needs and interests of not only District 16, but the entire state of Idaho,” said Farris in his campaign announcement."The conservative leadership in this state over the past 20 years has led us to rank near the bottom of many important areas—areas like education, wages and median household income, and healthcare.

Farris, a native of Lewiston, played professional football for a number of NFL teams, including Atlanta, Jacksonville, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and was a member of 2002 Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots.
