Grant Burgoyne Seeks Idaho Senate Seat Being Vacated by Les Bock

Following months of reported rumors, Boise Democratic Rep. Grant Burgoyne made it official Dec. 5, announcing his 2014 candidacy for the Idaho State Senate in Boise's 16th legislative district. The Senate seat is being vacated next year by Democratic Sen. Les Bock, who immediately endorsed Burgoyne's candidacy.

Burgoyne, a Boise attorney, was first elected to the Idaho House in 2008 and is the assistant minority leader, serving on Judiciary, Rules and Administration, Revenue and Taxation, and Ways and Means committees.

"I have fought against one party, pay-to-play politics which damages middle-class families and forces them to pay an unfair portion of the cost of government," Burgoyne said in his announcement.

Burgoyne's State Senate candidacy clears the slate for Democrat Jimmy Farris' bid to run for Burgoyne's House seat. Farris, who pulled in 31 percent of votes in his 2012 challenge to GOP Idaho Congressman Raul Labrador, announced his candidacy for Idaho House Seat 16A earlier this week.
