'Touchstone' Flight Will Touch Down in Sun Valley Thursday

Posted By on Wed, Dec 11, 2013 at 10:14 AM

It's usually not news when a plane lands safely at the airport, but Sun Valley is making a pretty big deal out of tomorrow's expected touchdown of United Airlines Flight No. 5634 from San Francisco at approximately 1:22 p.m., Mountain Time.

“We are proud to be welcoming the first regional jet flight and the first new carrier to serve [Sun Valley] in over 20 years," said Friedman Memorial Airport Authority Chairman Ron Fairfax. "This inaugural flight is an exciting touchstone in history for the airport and our community."

The new service, which was secured with minimum-revenue guarantees from the Sun Valley Resort and Fly Sun Valley Alliance, will run daily through Sunday, March 30, for the winter season and from Wednesday, July 2, through Tuesday, Sept. 23, for the summer season.

"We are working collectively to ensure the success of this new service and additional service in the future,” said Fairfax.
