A Magic Valley man has been charged with hitting a woman with his van over a WinCo Parking space.

This morning's Twin Falls Times-News reports that the incident occurred in early October at a Twin Falls Winco Parking lot. A woman told police that a man had asked her to hold a parking spot for him, but while she was standing in the middle of a space, a Dodge van pulled into the spot and didn't stop until the front bumper was touching her legs. Police later said that the driver had a child in the car.

The woman told police that she asked the driver if he was going to run her over for a parking space and the driver said yes. The woman said the driver pulled forward, striking the left side of here body and pushing her out of the parking space. The driver took off before police arrived on the scene.

The suspect, 61-year-old Gary Carter of Wendell, was later identified in a photo lineup and was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. A judge has also issued a no-contact order saying Carter must stay away from the woman.
