Seanjay Wright, 36, is charged with two felony counts of sexual contact with an inmate.

A former lawman is on the wrong side of a jail cell today.

Seanjay Wright, 36, of Meridian, who served as a deputy at the Ada County Jail for two years, was booked into the same jail Jan. 1 and charged with two felony counts of sexual contact with an inmate.

Ada County Sheriff Gary Raney said his deputies learned early in the day on Jan. 1 about possible sexual contact between Wright and a female inmate. Raney asked the Boise Police Department to investigate to avoid any conflict of interest.

Boise Police arrested Wright later that evening for having sexual contact on two occasions with the inmate.

The Sheriff's Office said Wright's employment was immediately terminated.

"Seanjay violated the trust of the community and let down the other 650 men and women working for the Sheriff’s Office who take great pride in their ethical conduct. He will now face the consequences of his actions by being on the other side of the bars," said Raney. "We take this very seriously and are going to look closely at our jail operations to make sure it never happens again."
