Mountain Express: Hailey Moving Forward With Limits to Loud Music

Posted By on Wed, Feb 5, 2014 at 9:09 AM

The Hailey City Council has taken the first step to muffle loud music in the Wood River Valley community.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that the Hailey Council voted Feb. 3 to amend an ordinance regulating concerts and other events that feature music. The new guidelines would put all events, except for so-called "extraordinary" occasions, on a short leash of 90 decibels, to be measured at property lines of nearby neighbors. Additionally, the hours of events that hold fewer than 250 people would need to end by 10 p.m. Events holding 1,500 people or more would be allowed to continue until 11 p.m.

A public hearing is set for Monday, March 3. The City Council would require two more readings of the measure before a final vote.
