Licensing Agents Pull Les Miz From Idaho Theater Troupe

Posted By on Fri, Apr 18, 2014 at 10:53 AM

Managers at an Eastern Idaho theater company apparently didn't read the score of Les Miserables before they agreed to perform it. In fact, the troupe had even apparently been rehearsing the musical for a few weeks in anticipation of performing the Tony Award-winning show this summer.

But now, officials with the Sounds theater company are calling some of the lyrics in Les Miserables "offensive, vulgar and blasphemous."

It turns out that they thought they could tinker with the lyrics to make it more to their liking. That is, until licensing agents got wind of the changes and told Sounds to knock it off.

KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls reports that Sounds has now scheduled Fiddler on the Roof  to replace their Les Miz performances.
