Star-News: There's (Midas) Gold In That There Park

Midas Gold, which has already sunk nearly $125 million into exploring the possibilities of large ore deposits in rural Valley County, now wants to drop a little cash into a city of McCall park.

The Vancouver, B.C.-based Midas Gold Corporation has it eye on the historic Stibnite mining district near Yellow Pine. That's where it says as many as 450 employees could be needed for the production phase.

And now, this week's McCall Star-News reports that Midas Gold is offering $50,000 to McCall to build ammenities at Fairway Park. But Midas Gold would also want to see its name on the park.

Fairway Park, which is located near the McCall Golf Course, regularly holds baseball and softball games and is the site of an annual arts fair.

A notice in the Star-News indicates that Fairway Park would be renamed Midas Gold Park if the donation is accepted.

The public will be able to weigh in on the matter at the Thursday, May 8, meeting of the McCall City Council.
