Times-News: Man Makes $500,000 Donation to Twin Falls YMCA

The average YMCA user in Twin Falls pays a monthly membership fee of $40, but a Twin Falls doctor has made a $500,000 donation to his local YMCA, hoping to advance Twin Falls as a "wellness community."

The Times-News reported this morning that Dr. Adrian Dean donated a 3,000-square-foot building and enough money to bring his total contribution to half-a-million dollars.

"I was born and raised here. This is my community," Dean told the Times-News. "I want to give something back to the community in general and to the 'Y' specifically."

He also serves on the board's executive committee. He's encouraged the YMCA to offer more than exercise classes and expand community education programs. His donation also jumpstarts the YMCA's campaign to raise $2 million for needed improvements to the center.

"We need to take care of ourselves as we go along," Dean said. To him, that means paying attention to the community's spiritual and emotional health.
