Greenleaf Officials Decide to Keep Canyon County Town Dry

Posted By on Wed, May 28, 2014 at 10:56 AM

The Greenleaf City Council has voted unanimously to keep their Canyon County town dry.

This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports that Greenleaf is one of only eight communities that prohibits the sale of alcohol within city limits. And after hearing from one merchant and thirteen members of the public on the issue, the city council opted to keep its "Quaker roots," according to the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Art Bailey, owner of the Greenleaf Store, says he's still undecided on whether he wants to pursue a ballot referendum on the issue. Bailey said not being able to sell alcohol hurts his business, and "keeps potential customers away," according to the Press-Tribune.
