The Boise Independent School District—the second largest in Idaho—has agreed to a 2014-2015 contract with the Boise Education Association, representing more than 1,700 members across the district.

The new contract, unanimously approved by the Boise School Board of Trustees and 95 percent of the BEA membership is highlighted by a 1.5 percent increase in base salaries and a 0.5 percent one-time payment for all employees.

"This process has proven to be highly effective, both at the bargaining table and in building our collaborative relationship to address issues affecting the District and its educators," said Boise School District Superintendent Dr. Don Coberly.

The BEA includes classroom teacher, special education teachers, teacher-librarians, paraprofessionals, office assistants, custodial staff, administrators, speech and language specialist and others.

The agreement was announced with less than one week left in the current school year in the Boise District which wraps up with early releases for K-12 students on Wednesday, June 4.
