Counterfeit Cash Popping Up in Ontario, Ore.

Police in Ontario, Ore., say they're investigating a string of incidents involving counterfeit money.

The Ontario Argus Observer is reporting that three separate instances involving fake $20 and $50 bills were reported on the same day, May 29. Bogus bills were reported at a grocery store, a gas station and a bank, where a customer tried to deposit the fake cash after receiving the counterfeit bills at still another local business.

One victim told police that he got fake $20 bills while playing a video poker machine at a local pub, according to the Argus Observer.

The chief of the Ontario Police Department told the Argus Observer that the fakes lacked safety features such as watermarks and the counterfeit bills' texture felt different than real money.
