The city of Boise has inked a deal which would see a parcel of city-owned property on Fairview Avenue between 24th and 25th streets turned into a food truck park. The lease with operators of the West End Food Park, which will host as many as 10 food trucks at one time, will last six months with an option for further extension.

The city will also use a part of the same block as a park-and-ride facility for city hall employees. Some improvements to the parcel will be covered by the city while other improvements will be paid for by West End Food Park, LLC.

A grand opening of the West End Food Park is set for Thursday, July 3.

Outdoor seating and lighting will be provided and the park is also mulling the addition of a produce stand to sell fresh fruit and veggies throughout the day.

"I'm excited that the city will be able to leverage this unused piece of property to create new economic activity and increased vibrancy in the West End," said Boise Mayor Dave Bieter.
