Video: Black Bear Keeps North Idaho Students Anxious For Several Hours

Students in a North Idaho middle school got an up-close science lesson when a black bear parked itself in a tree just outside the school Wednesday, causing a bit of a ruckus.

Students and faculty were ordered to stay inside the Woodland Middle School in Coeur d'Alene when the 3-year-old bear started climbing a nearby tree, spending several hours with a birds-eye-view of all of the excitement.

Ultimately, the bear came down the tree, prompting Idaho Fish and Game officials to fire a tranquilizer dart at the animal; but before he settled down, the bear took a run across the school's baseball field then finally went to sleep in the home team dugout.

The bear was expected to be relocated to the Coeur d'Alene river drainage.
