Hilary Knight Laces Up With NHL Team Friday

Posted By on Fri, Oct 3, 2014 at 10:18 AM

Idaho's Hilary Knight, a two-time silver medalist with the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team, will lace up her skates and take the ice with the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks today.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports that the 25-year-old Knight is believed to be the first female non-goalie skater to practice with an NHL team. She's also scheduled to be a guest coach for the Anaheim Lady Ducks hockey team later today.

Knight spends much of her free time in Idaho, but attended college in Wisconsin and has twice been a member of Team USA at the Winter Olympics. She comes from a family of athletes—cousin Chip Knight skied in three Olympics and her parents have worked as ski instructors.

Hilary Knight has also been named to the roster of the U.S. Women's National Team that will compete in November's Four Nations Cup tournament in British Columbia, Canada.
