Army Investigation Into Bergdahl's Disappearance Complete

Posted By on Fri, Oct 10, 2014 at 9:37 AM

Pentagon officials say they have wrapped up their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Idaho native and U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was captured by the Taliban and held for nearly five years before a controversial prisoner swap secured his release.

The report, authored by Brig. Gen. Kenneth Dahl, is currently being reviewed by Army commanders.

Army spokesman Wayne Hall says the review process will be "lengthy" and that "the Army's priority is ensuring that our process is thorough, factually accurate, impartial and legally correct."

Bergdahl is still assigned to U.S. Army North at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

Bergdahl disappeared from his Army outpost near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in the summer of 2009 before falling into the hands of the Taliban.
