Nobel Peace Prize Goes to Two Champions of Children's Rights

Seventeen-year-old Malala Yousafzai shared the Nobel Peace Prize today with 60-year-old Kailash Satyarthi, both champions of children's rights. Yousafzai is the youngest-ever Nobel winner.

Two years ago, while a student in the Pakistan's Swat Valley, Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. She had gained some notoriety for insisting that girls have a right to an education in her homeland. She survived several operations and continues her activism to this day.

Meanwhile, Satyarthi has been on the front lines of the battle to end child slavery for decades. The Nobel committee pointed to his activism, which has led to the rescue of tens of thousands of child slaves.
