North Idaho Airport Manager Fired

Posted By on Tue, Oct 28, 2014 at 9:34 AM

Officials in Kootenai County insist that the firing was not "for cause," but they did tell the manager of their county airport to take a hike.

This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that two of the Kootenai County commissioners will leave office after next week's elections (they're stepping down) but they didn't want to wait before ousting airport manager Greg Delavan.

"The commission wanted to go in a different direction," said Commissioner Todd Tondee, who added that the airport was involved in several controversial issues. The Press reports that Delavan had been involved in the airport's master plan, which ran into some conflicts that required a mediator.

Although they didn't comment on the firing, county commissioners said the ouster was an "administrative personnel issue" that didn't require a formal vote.
