Boise State Tips Off Another Basketball Season

Posted By on Sat, Nov 1, 2014 at 3:00 PM

UPDATE:

Boise State defeated La Verne 92-60 November 1st in the exhibition debut. The Broncos were led by Nick Duncan with 14 points, Anthony Drmic with 13 points and Mikey Thompson with 10 points.

Boise State faces Montana Tech on Friday, November 7 at Taco Bell Arena.

ORIGINAL POST:

If you've ever heard of the University of La Verne, you get two points. If you knew that they had a basketball team, you get a couple extra shots from the foul line. The La Verne Leopards have made their way to Boise to help tip off the Boise State men's basketball season this evening. FYI, La Verne is about 35 minutes outside of Los Angeles and competes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

But the Broncos hoops squad has some pretty high expectations this season, far beyond beating La Verne. The Broncos are coming off the heels of a 21-win season in 2013-2014, tying for fifth in the very competitive Mountain West Conference. This year's squad includes two players—seniors Anthony Drmic and Derrick Marks—who are ranked among ESPN's top 100 college basketball players in the nation.

Tonight's game, an exhibition, tips off at 6 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena.

Some of this year's home-game highlights will include:

Nov. 25 vs. the University of Idaho (at CenturyLink Arena)
Feb. 8 vs. San Diego State
Feb. 21 vs. Nevada
March 7 vs. Fresno State
